“Under the Skin” explores the experience of migration — nostalgia, shame, the desire to adapt to a new society while simultaneously feeling reluctant to stay, the loss of a sense of home, and the subtle emotions that accompany relocation.
This series also works with the theme of corporeality: through the body’s language, the works show how a change of place generates a different sense of self, creating tension between what we are ready to reveal outwardly and what we prefer to keep hidden; between new life and loss.
The series reflects on transformation and the search for belonging, questioning what within us remains foreign even as we adapt to the new and begin to identify with it
